The teacher laughs.<\/p>\n

Johnny nods.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was supposed to come to my classroom this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n
The teacher walks quickly toward the hallway.<\/p>\n
Then she sees Johnny’s mother standing beside the elevator.<\/p>\n
The doors open.<\/p>\n
She steps out.<\/p>\n
\u201cJohnny!\u201d<\/p>\n
He runs toward her.<\/p>\n
The teacher lets out a huge sigh of relief.<\/p>\n
Johnny looks up at her.<\/p>\n
\u201cSee?\u201d<\/p>\n
The teacher laughs.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour father was joking, wasn’t he?\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny nods.<\/p>\n
\u201cYep.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then he adds,<\/p>\n
\u201cHe also says the refrigerator eats his food.\u201d<\/p>\n
The entire class bursts into laughter.<\/p>\n
The teacher puts her hands on her hips.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, Johnny, your father certainly has a strange way of describing things.\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny smiles.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe says lots of strange things.\u201d<\/p>\n
The teacher shakes her head.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike what?\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny thinks for a moment.<\/p>\n
Then he says,<\/p>\n
\u201cHe says I’m the reason he can’t sleep at night.\u201d<\/p>\n
The teacher laughs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat sounds like something many parents say.\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny nods.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then he smiles innocently.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut Mom says it’s because Dad snores.\u201d<\/p>\n
The class erupts again.<\/p>\n
The teacher finally gives up.<\/p>\n
\u201cOkay, Johnny. You win.\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny proudly returns to his seat.<\/p>\n
And the teacher writes one final word on the board:<\/p>\n
