A farmer couldn’t stop bragging about his prize bull.
“People drive from miles away,” he told his neighbor proudly. “Every cow owner wants my bull. I charge good money, and he never disappoints!”
The neighbor raised an eyebrow.
“That impressive, huh?”
“Absolutely,” the farmer said. “He’s got a full schedule today—five different farms!”
Curious, the neighbor walked over to the field and leaned on the fence.
The bull was lying in the grass, not moving at all.
“Hey!” the neighbor called out.
The bull slowly lifted his head.
The neighbor looked back at the farmer.
“Are you sure this is the same bull you were bragging about?”
The farmer nodded proudly.
“Of course!”
“But he’s been lying there for ten minutes!”
The farmer smiled.
“Just wait.”
The bull suddenly stood up, stretched, walked over to the first cow, did his job, and then calmly returned to the grass.
The neighbor’s eyes widened.
“Wow!”
The farmer grinned.
“Told you.”
A few minutes later, the bull got up again, walked over to another cow, and repeated the performance.
The neighbor shook his head in disbelief.
“That is one incredible bull!”
The farmer puffed out his chest.
“I told you he never disappoints.”
Then the neighbor asked,
“Does he always have this much energy?”
The farmer smiled.
“Only when he’s working.”
The neighbor laughed.
“Well, I wish I had that kind of motivation.”
The farmer nodded thoughtfully.
“Actually, you might.”
“How?”
“Try telling your wife you’re coming home from work five farms away.”
The neighbor burst out laughing.
Just then, the bull suddenly looked toward the farmer’s wife, who was walking across the field.
He immediately jumped to his feet and started running toward her.
The farmer froze.
The neighbor stared.
“What’s he doing?”
The farmer sighed.
“Oh, no…”
“What?”
“That bull has never done that before.”
The bull stopped in front of the farmer’s wife, stared at her, and let out a loud moo.
She looked at her husband and said,
“Your bull wants something.”
The farmer swallowed.
“Apparently.”
The neighbor grinned.
“What does he want?”
The farmer looked at the bull, then at his wife.
“I think he wants a raise.”
The neighbor laughed so hard he nearly fell over.
The farmer shook his head.
“Five farms in one day… and now he thinks he deserves a bonus.”
The neighbor wiped his eyes.
“Well, after that performance, I’d say he earned it!”
And the farmer finally admitted:
“Maybe I should stop bragging about my bull. He’s starting to negotiate his own salary.”
